The Boeing VC-25 is an American airliner intended for the transport of the President of the United States (Air Force One). The drive is provided by four General Electric CF6 turbofan engines 80C2B1 . The production of the machine lasted from 1986 to 1990 and resulted in the production of only two examples of this aircraft, which are still in use.
\nThe Boeing VC-25 was specially developed by the US Air Force, which aimed to replace the Boeing 707 aircraft as Air Force One with new machines. The companies McDonnell Douglas and Boeing entered the tender - the latter emerged victorious in the competition, offering a highly modernized version of the B-747. Changes in relation to the basic version included the use of other engines, significant development of avionics and communication equipment, and strengthening of the structure. The interior of the aircraft was also completely redesigned to meet the needs of the American head of state. The unit cost of the aircraft is approximately USD 325 million, compared to USD 83 million for the standard B-747-300 according to 1982 prices.
\nThe VC-25 is a modified Boeing 747-200 that serves as the US President's aircraft. The changes compared to the passenger Boeing 747 involve the installation of the latest military electronic equipment responsible for navigation and communication. In-flight refueling was also made possible, which greatly extends the autonomy of the aircraft. The plane is equipped with the president's private office, a conference room, and rooms for the president's family and members of his office. The first 747, remodeled to Air Force One, entered service in August 1990. At the moment, there are two VC-25 with side numbers 28000 and 29000. Technical data: length: 70.6 m, wingspan: 59.6 m, height: 19.3 m, maximum speed: 1015 km / h, practical ceiling: 13700 m, range maximum: 13000km.
