Plain to screwed adaptors are designed with one side to fit rigid conduit and the other has a threaded end with a lock ring.
Rigid conduit is inserted to the plain end and the threaded end is usually installed into an enclosure with the threaded end and then locked into place with the nut that is also supplied.
